Straw is the perfect bedding material to create a nesting area in chicken housing. We recommend a layer of shavings (or other soft bedding) is added first with a little straw on top. We do not recommend straw as the main flooring in chicken housing as it does not absorb moisture well and so requires more frequent cleaning.
